Step 1

Today is my phone consult with the counselor from the cyro.bank. They are supposed to call me at some point between 9am - 5pm, so I'm sitting by the phone all day :(

We're also going to clean out our closets, switching from winter to summer and donating the unwanted or unused stuff.

D repeated his b/w last week testing hormones since his mTESE and stopping the clomid. Everything is ok except his testosterone is low. He has to repeat in 6 months. He also has a testicular u/s in a couple of weeks to make sure all is good.

Will update after phone call.

Well, the call is done. Counselor called at 5 to tell me he would call back between 6 and 6:30, so I had to wait a little longer.

The call went better than I expected. We talked about our journey so far, why we were using DS, how many children we wanted (and I didn't cry).

I have to call back next week and let them know how many vials we would like and fill out a bunch of paperwork. Apparently, we've chosen a popular donor and he stock is limited (he's a dr. and according to counselor a great guy). I first have to call IUI nurse to figure out how many vials we will need for IUI's and future siblings.

DH and I had a really good conversation this afternoon and while we are both scared we know we want to be parents and have a family. He is scared of so many things and doesn't want to regret this choice. I'm so glad he talking and being open.

For now we've chosen our donor. We can move forward whenever we are ready. We will be going to counseling at our clinic prior to IUI's.

Thanks for the support and good wishes.

Oh the ball-trasound. Such fond memories of watch DH squirm and ask me if he was set up correctly! Like I would know! Hopefully the clinic will be easy. Its so awkward talking to strangers about your situation, mine was super nice which made her seem all the more fake. I was so concerned about everything I said.
Just relax, I'm so glad you guys are moving forward.

Good for you guys. I know it must be really hard to proceed to this next step. Can't wait to hear your update.

I hope they call soon. Using DS must be stressful so I hope the bank realizes that and tries to make it easier.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Thanks for the good luck wishes on my blog. When I was an known egg donor, the couple (my married friends) and I had to go to counseling. I was indifferent about it but so glad I went. I hope it's beneficial to you and your DH. Sorry you have to move to DS. I hope you are able to start your family soon.

Congrats on moving forward, I am sorry that you had to sit by the phone all day.

What sperm bank are you using? I am using California and I did not have to speak with a counselor - I am just curious.

That is great that your hubby is being such a great part of this process.

I am in awe of you too (two) - It is a difficult decision and both of you are taking a huge step.
It is not too different to adoption in some ways though you will be the birth / bio mom and your hubby will share every step of the journey.

Thanks for your kind words on my blog.
Good luck.

It is awesome that you found a donor you both agree on!!! I am sure it was a hard decision. But, the best thing in all of this is that you and your hubby ARE talking about it. Deciding together and he is being open about his feelings!!! It is amazing that going through something that can be so devastating can bring you closer together!!!!
Good Luck. Thanks for your comment on my blog. I am thinking of telling him before the surgery!!!
