Please send D positive vibes

It's been a rough couple of days. If you read this on the TTTC board, this is going to be repetitive and gross.

A weird growth showed up on D's stomach last weekend and we thought it was a pimple. He tried to pop it and blood came out and then it started to grow and the surrounding area was rock hard. It got to be about the size of a golf ball and then started oozing blood and puss. He went to see our PC Dr. on Wed. afternoon and she sent him to emergency room.

We were in the ER for about 2 hours before the saw us. The Dr. decides he needs to do a culture and proceeds to jab a culture stick into the growth and DH almost shot off the bed in pain. He bit himself to keep from screaming, I don't think I have ever seen him in so much pain. What a jackass Dr. maybe give us a warning next time!

Anyway, we never saw a Dr. again but his nurse was so wonderful and tried to help as much as possible. the ER Dr. called our PC Dr. and they decided to admit D and administer IV anti-biotics and have a surgeon look at growth Thurs. morning. Anti-biotics were too strong for DH at first and he turned red, blotchy and started burning up and getting dizzy. They shut them off and about an hour later turned it back on with a very slow drip.

He finally got a bed around 11 and I got him settled and came home. I hated leaving him, he was freaking out.

DH's PC Dr. saw him Thurs. morning. She wanted to have the growth evaluated by surgeon and Skin specialist. She cleaned the area and they administered additional IV anti-biotics. Still didn't say what she thought it could be.

At around 10 the surgeon came in (the same one who did my wrist surgery last January) and he looked at the areas and said he will not need surgery (Thank God) and that he thinks it is a staph infection. The large one on his stomach has gone down and is oozing so surgery wouldn't help. We need to wait for the cultures to come back and tell us exactly what it is.
DH will still be given IV antibiotics and hopefully we will have some answers soon. He has 3 more growths, one on his leg that was there for a couple of days, one on the other leg close to the groin area and a brand new one that showed up yesterday morning on his hand.

The skin Dr. saw D yesterday afternoon and said that they needed to wait for the cultures to come back and to keep with anti-biotics.

I hate hospitals, it takes forever to respond and we still have no idea what is going on. The cultures are not back and we don't know how long he will be in hospital. D is losing his mind and can't stand it in there.

Please pray that we get some answers today and D can come home. He's so upset, his best friend is getting married tomorrow and he is the best man and it looks like we will be missing the wedding.

Warning TMI - DH's neighbor (adjacent bed) enjoys pleasuring himself repeatedly and talking out loud about it. He's like 80 years old and has no clue what is going on around. Obviously, DH was traumatized and did not sleep and went on a few walks to get away from the noise. We've asked for DH to be moved, still no luck.

Oh NO! I'm so sorry. Geez...my hubby (also D) was in the hospital a month ago for almost the SAME thing! (except it was near his groin). UGH. Got jabbed with a huge needle and everything. He was on heavy duty antibiotics for a week and luckily all is back to normal now.

Sending tons of 'get well soon' vibes!

I hope he's feeling better very very soon and that you're hanging in there. Thinking about you.

Oh my gosh! Your poor DH -- as if he hasn't been through enough lately! I hope everything is ok and the antibiotics do their job!

Poor guy! I hope they finally get their act together and figure out exactly what's wrong! ARGH!

Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!

He's in my prayers, it's sounds like a scary and awful thing to go through. I had the roommate from hell when I had my surgery from hell and my sympathies are there as well.

Yikes. Sounds like antibiotics should do the trick, but I'm thinking about you.

(This also reminded me of working on the wards and taking care of those patients who "pleasure themselves" on a regular basis...ha ha)
